Sanma Hotel

Ideally located, 5 minutes in a taxi from Foz airport and 10 mins walk to the entrance to the falls. The hotel is impressive on arrival and the reception staff were absolutely lovely and make a great first impression. The pool & grounds are very beautiful. We went straight to dinner on our arrival (as the restaurant was closing). The food is the biggest let down. The hotel is providing a very basic menu coupled with less than average execution in exchange for a high price & a slow, unfriendly service. It ruins the stay as there are no eating options anywhere nearby so you are a captive audience. Breakfast- A good selection but it was not nice. Mostly we left our dishes. The eggs were dreadful so I ordered the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon instead but the toast was completely soggy and it only tasted of vinegar and I couldn’t eat it. The bubbly with breakfast is a nice touch. We had the buffet dinner on Saturday night and it was the only meal we enjoyed during our 2 nights at the hotel. Deluxe room is small but clean. The bed very comfortable (one of the best ever) however, it didn’t have a mattress protector & the mattress was stained. The bathroom is extremely tired and long overdue for a renovation.

Beautiful lobby. Great pool. Breakfast was exceptional. Perfect location for Iguacu Falls . Can walk to park. Airport is less than 10 minute cab ride.

The location of the hotel was perfect! Only a 5-minute-walk to Parque das Aves and a 10-minute-walk to the entrance of the Brazilian Iguazu Falls. The outstanding staff member was the concierge Gabriel who gave me lots of helpful information on how to visit both sides of the Iguazu Falls.

This was a very smart, expansive hotel - super place. Public areas are huge & creatively decorated in local style. We arrived in the morning & were offered a welcome drink of sparkling wine, which felt very decadent & lovely at that hour. Staff were helpful & patient as we do not speak Portuguese. The room we chose was good - big enough, with space to unpack for a one-night stay, & had a spacious shower room. The grounds & pool area were lovely. (It was raining but I still enjoyed a swim in the large pool, a sauna & one of the 3 hot tubs outdoors!) There was a wide-ranging dinner buffet served on the midweek night we stayed. Plenty of choices were on offer at each course, with lots of lovely salads, fish, & meat, & vegetarian options - local & international styles - & with a wide choice of drinks too. Wines were more expensive than on the Argentinian side, we noted - not unusual - but local wines were very good & priced ok. The hotel location is excellent & a big factor in why I chose Sanma for a 1 night stay. It is just a few minutes walk to the National Park entry gate, & to Parc des Aves (the bird park - well worth a visit after seeing the Brazil side of the falls.) We nly needed a taxi to arrive & to go to the airport for our next journey, & the airport is only 5mins away. Very good value for such a smart hotel. The location is excellent.

Sanma was a dream. It was a very relaxing environment with extremely attentive staff. The front desk was able to order medication for my friend when she had a headache and have it delivered. She looked up the Portuguese name of the medication, reviewed the symptoms and delivered it within a half hour. What attention to detail! What more can anyone ask for. The bar was classy and chic in decor with fantastic drinks. We were helped by Derik, Bernardo and Luis who were AMAZING - very friendly and very knowledgeable bartenders. They have a talented piano man playing world classics: Songs like Besame Mucho, Let it Be, Bohemian Rhapsody and others. By the pool, the had Egyptian style curtains in a wooden constructed square with cushioned recliners by the pool. It just calls out to you to fall asleep and enjoy the view. The restaurant by the pool brought food and beverages to us when we woke up. This was a really, really… REALLY nice hotel. Thanks Sanma.
